John Scull is a co-founding Managing Director of Southern Cross Venture Partners and is based in Silicon Valley. Previously he was a Venture Partner and member of the investment committee of the venture capital firm Allen & Buckeridge. As an active board member and investor, John brings a wealth of cross-border operational experience to the management and board of an investee company, helping to build their management teams, define strategy, improve sales & marketing and business development efforts, and secure follow-on funding.  He has served as a board member or observer on many private companies and two publicly listed companies. His portfolio of investee companies includes the following companies and others: Geli (Growing Energy Labs, Inc.), AutoPilot, BigTinCan (ASX: BTH), Precise Light Surgical, Mocana, Quantenna (NASDAQ: QTNA, acquired by On Semiconductor), ekit (acquired by Jersey Telecom), Fultec Semiconductor (acquired by Bourns), VaST Systems (acquired by Synopsys), Virsto (acquired by VMware), Vintela (acquired by Quest).

Prior to becoming a venture capital investor, John had a successful 20-year operational career with leading edge technology companies primarily in Silicon Valley. He has been the CEO of two successful venture backed software companies (Macromind, which merged to form Macromedia (NASDAQ: MACR, later acquired by Adobe) and PF Magic, which was acquired by The Learning Company). Earlier in his career John was an innovative marketing executive at Apple Computer, where he helped launch the Macintosh personal computer and then started and grew the company's Desktop Publishing business to over US$1Bn in revenues.

John Scull holds an MBA from Harvard University and a bachelors degree from the University of Oklahoma.
